The ABM was discovered in the rainforests of Brazil about 30 years ago. Among the native population, who regularly consumed this mushroom, cancer was completely unknown. Meanwhile, this mushroom is cultivated in Brazil, USA, Japan, Korea and Germany. In the USA and Japan, ABM has been subjected to scientific studies with remarkable success, demonstrating its efficacy in the diseases described below.
ABM is used in veterinary medicine mainly for cancer and autoimmune diseases. It has the highest concentration of beta-glucans (polysaccharides) in its glycoproteins (compounds of polysaccharides and proteins) of all medicinal mushrooms and regulates the entire immune system. Its ingredients ergosterol (precursor of vitamin D) and sodium pyroglutamate have a cytotoxic effect on cancer cells. They suppress the formation of new blood vessels by tumor cells (angiogenesis), which is necessary for metastasis, and induce the death of tumor cells (apoptosis).
Through its action as an immune regulator, ABM exerts a protective function on the pancreatic islets of Langerhans. Its beta-glucans slow down sugar absorption via the intestine.
The fungus has liver-protective properties. A detoxifying and liver-protecting effect has been demonstrated in toxic liver diseases caused by chemical substances.
ABM promotes blood formation in the bone marrow and supports both the blood purification and defense functions of the spleen.
