An important principle of mycotherapy is that just like every human being, every animal is always considered in its wholeness of body, mind and soul. The MykoTroph approach to the use of vital mushrooms is therefore also based on the philosophy of wholeness, i.e. the use of the whole mushroom with all its valuable ingredients.
In the mushroom powder from the whole mushroom are thousands of ingredients. They all influence the animal organism and support each other in their effect. Almost all life processes are due to enzyme reactions. There are enzymes that the body can produce itself and those that must be ingested with food. In total, the various metabolic processes are influenced by over 5,000 different enzymes and the vitamins and minerals that support them.
Mushroom powder from the whole mushroom is rich in minerals, vitamins and trace elements and contains other valuable ingredients such as triterpenes, polysaccharides and glycoproteins.
Vitamins, minerals and trace elements
Vital mushrooms contain a balanced ratio of potassium and phosphorus as well as calcium and magnesium. It also contains trace elements such as copper and iron and, above all, selenium. Vital mushrooms are also rich in vitamins, especially the B group (B1, B2, B3, B6, B12), as well as vitamins D and E. Some also contain vitamins A and C; however, only in small amounts.
Triterpenes
The triterpenes are among the most effective ingredients of the vital mushrooms. They are found predominantly in the fruiting body and mainly in the lamellae and spores of the mature mushroom cap. Triterpenes can have anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-cholesterol, anti-hypertensive, and anti-tumoral effects.
Polysaccharides, glycoproteins
Polysaccharides belong to the family of long-chain carbohydrates. Several studies have shown that a mixture of different polysaccharides has a stronger effect on the immune system. The higher the molecular weight and the more branched the structure, the greater its antitumor effect.
Chitin
Chitin is broken down by the enzyme chitinase, which occurs in the animal body, and converted to N-acetylglucosamine. In young and healthy animals, the body itself produces enough glucosamine to keep the joints functional. In older animals, glucosamine is no longer produced in sufficient quantities and should be supplied daily.
Valuable ingredients
The prerequisite for preserving all these valuable ingredients in a mushroom powder preparation, is a freshly harvested and gentle drying of the mushrooms at low temperatures. At these temperatures, the heat-sensitive ingredients – such as the enzymes, vitamins and proteins – of the vital mushrooms are also preserved!
